home is where the heart is

The lovely and talented Joyce has introduced a new class at the local paper crafting shop that I frequent (Capture-a-Memory, Flint MI), where she shares a scrapbook double page sketch and has kitted 3-4 options containing all the card stock, DP, and assorted card stock stickers to make a couple pages. Here's my take on the recent class I attended with my scrapping buddy Pat!

... and here's the original sketch (I'm sizing mine down, making it 2/3rd's of the original 12x12" sketch ... it's been interesting, but I figure I'll have enough card stock and DP left over to create a matching card, perhaps):

happy b'day wishes, Barb!

I hope to get together with friends for movies and eats this weekend, and am planning on giving this card to Barb then. We generally try to get together every month or so, and are all agreed we should check out The Vow. Have you seen it yet? There's a few other movies I'd like to check out as well. I'll stop back afterwards to upload a movie review, something I've been slacking on reporting lately ...

I went to one of Angie's Stamp Camps this week w my stamping buddy Pat and we made this card (one of 5 we made), mainly of items from the current Sale-a-bration catty. Angie's SUCH an enabler, y'know?! Hope Barb likes it!

CAM make-'n-take

Another in our continuing series of 2-sided folders to be eventually joined together in a mini book of sorts, each page includes a greeting card, bookmark, and list of dates to remember. They're themed each month, and this month's version is all about love! Led by the lovely and talented Joyce, I'm SO geeked about this project! We're using Basic Grey DP card stock for the pages/folders.

No deets today - the DP's retired BasicGrey, and the heart die's from Tim Holtz ... SWEET, eh?!

it's not easy being green

... but not in this case. I used Wordle and the words that meant "green" to me to create today's card for St Pat's day. I didn't keep track of the color family I used in the app, but this one seemed to go best with SU's Garden Green card stock. I matted the Wordle, then pulled a ribbon from my stash, and voila! A CAS almost 1-layer card!

happy valentine's day!

Here's one last Valentine's Day card, plus a couple of cute treats that I made after work yesterday for my son to give out at school ... and yes, I made some for the crew at my work place too! I ran out of s'mores fixin's so I resorted to nuts for half of those at work! Now ... to decide who's nutty and who's sweet?!

note: I spotted the s'mores idea at Lorri's blog!

on BFFs

To my sister and her family - and now the cards hit the mail to hopefully make it to their intended recipients by Valentine's Day! We rec'd a mixture of snow and ice last night and this a.m. and the temp has been too low for the de-icers to work their magic so far. My DH went out to get gas for my car (isn't he a sweetie?!) and returned with a road condition report. Seems the sub was in better shape than the main roads as they were at least snow-covered. Cars were having trouble on the main drag making it up the slight incline that goes over the freeway. Even the local township's salt-spreader/plow he saw on his way back home skid into an intersection! Sigh ... I decided to sit tight for a bit and so pulled out some card supplies. I found this selection of DP among my stash while en route to find some OTHER DP ... it's a sampling of similar colors DP from two different vendors, but they play nicely with each other, don't you think?! It uses the current CPS card sketch from their 5th anniversary celebration.

stamps: Waltzing Mouse's Sweetheart (inside sentiment); paper: imaginisce and My Mind's Eye DPs; ink: Ranger's black soot and aged mahogany distress inks; tools: Fiskar's Threading Water border punch

i love you, PB!

This evening while watching the game (ok, I'm mainly just catching some of the commercials), I asked my DH which image I should use on my next card - a butterfly or heart. He picked the butterfly; little did he know that he was helping me out on HIS card! It's CASE weekend for me, I guess, as this card's a CASE of this beauty by Jen Del Muro of i {heart} 2 stamp blog fame. The Verve Divas are having a blog hop this weekend ... many of them posting ahead of time as they're out at CHA. And, speaking of CHA, have you been enjoying the sneak peeks everyone's been posting?! I have! I've not followed the Divas' blog hop yet, so that's where I'm heading right now! Catch you later in the week!

stamps: Waltzing Mouse's sweetheart; paper: BasicGrey's Sugared 6x6 paper pad, Staples 100# white card stock; ink: Ranger's black soot distress ink; accessories: want 2 scrap's pink self-adhesive bling; tools: Cuttlebug w Sizzix sizzlits branch w leaves die and Provo Craft's Floral Fantasy embossing folder, Crop-A-Dile's corner chomper, square punch

a case study

I spotted this beauty by Mistylynn of Li'l Buck's Creation blog fame the other day and marked her blog post as unread so I'd remember to CASE the card later this weekend. Well, today was the day! I punched a whole lotta hearts last night but grabbed the latest addition to my embossing folders earlier today to make the front panel. I stamped the sentiment on a separate piece of white card stock, then cut it out and made a banner cut on the end.

tips: Want a quick tip to perfect v-cuts on banners? Just pull out one of your square punches! And, if you're cutting a rounded piece from the end, either use a circle punch or cut one side, then take the piece you cut away and place it over the opposite side, trace, and cut that edge away!

CAM make-'n-take

Here's a show-'n-tell of today's make-'n-take where we made our choice from two cards and a couple of cute mailboxes to cover some nugget chocolates. It was a relatively quick card as the lovely and talented Jill had the ingredients ready for us, so I was out of there with time to shop before heading to meet some friends for dinner and a movie (more on that later).

For the cute mailboxes we matted some DP with pink or red card stock, wrapped it around the candy, and added a raised arm so the mailman knows there's something inside! Instead of a flag we have a small heart at the top of the arm; Jill found some teeny tiny conversation heart DP that fit her hand held mini heart punch perfect! Stinkin' cute projects, Jill!

There's always something on special from the make-'n-takes and today was no exception - the embossing folder and heart punches were on sale today. And for members, you ask? 50% off Tim Holtz dies (except the brand new stock)! Yes, a couple hopped into my basket - I took home the mini reindeer and 25 set for half off, and a new die called Autumn Gatherings which has different leaves, branches, wheat, acorns, etc to make a cute wreath or border or whatever using my monthly 25% off coupon!

Speaking of Tim, have you seen any of the new product videos from CHA Winter? Some new markers, specialty inking paper, embossing diffusers, dies, card stock packs, etc. Sigh ... see some of the vimeo videos from Mark and Christine here!
