thanx - I needed that!

A bit of history is required for this card - my brother, niece and Mom visited last weekend for a belated birthday celebration for my eldest (yes, the same brother who's kidded me about my card-making for obscure holidays in a past post). The thing is, he had this t'riffic wrapping paper for my son's present and I made an innocent comment about how pretty it was. Well, he turned to my niece and said, "You know what this means ...," and again, I think we'll all agree, it was meant to be taken as a challenge; don't you agree?!

I don't know whether you can tell from the picture, but there's a faint striped background to the wrapping paper; I thought it'd match both SU's Purely Pomegranate and DMD's kraft card stock, which I used for both the base and also ran thru one of my crimpers. The layout's based on Beate's sketch challenge.

stamps: studio g series 7 clear stamps; paper: SU's Purely Pomegranate and DMD's Kraft cardstock; ink: StazOn Jet Black, asst'd watercolor markers on hand; tools: crimper

sending you sunshine

One of my lunch buddies is home recuperating from surgery. I made this card to buck around the work group and included it with a gift we delivered yesterday. She's a blog reader so I had to wait 'til delivery to post! So, here's to you, Pat! It also works for Sharon's Flourish challenge.

stamps: AMuse sentiment, Hero Arts Screened Solids BK, Technique Tuesday's Olde World Squares; paper: Bohemia' Bliss ink: Color Box (not sure - peach pastel?) and SU (not sure - the teal); accessories: Prima mini flower

a flower for you

I heard thru the grapevine yesterday that a buddy at work had been out ill so this card's for Sally! We hadn't crossed paths lately and I'd wondered why. I used Jen Del Muro's latest SFYTT challenge and will mail it from work tomorrow. I saved the cutest poem for get well cards that I'd received on a card once and used it for this one's inside sentiment, printing it from my PC: "comfy jammies, cozy bed, big soft pillow for your head. worry not, the world can wait. take your time, recuperate!" Cute, eh?!

stamps: SU's Vases in Vogue (I thank you every time I pick these up, Crystal! you're MUCH appreciated, and I don't mention it often enough!); paper: My Mind's Eye's Party "Sisters," SU's Regal Rose and Rose Red cardstocks, unknown DP on die cut; ink: StazOn Jet Black; accessories: My Mind's Eye's confetti ric-rac ribbon (I may dig thru my eyelet stash in the a.m. ... ooh! or maybe put googly eyes on the flower?!)

you're purrfect

Hi folkes! Long time - no see! Sorry I've been neglecting my blog ... seems I've been reading more lately - books 'n blogs - and by the time I finish reading, it's late and I don't get around to playing.

One more Valentine's Day card, loosely based on one I spotted at Julee T's blog. This one's for my next door neighbors, who I feel pretty sure won't be reading the blog any time soon ... as they don't have a PC! They're our favorite neighbor cats' humans (that should be safe to say, right Mark?! (my brother and niece have 2 cats but live more than an hour away!)) and I spotted this cat stamp during my latest trip to Michael's. I Cuttlebug'd and lightly sanded the background, then inked the edges of the white cardstock. Pretty simple and quick!

stamps: studio g's $1 stamps - cat, outside and inside sentiments; paper: Basic Grey's Figgy Pudding-Kringle and Bazzill's matching cardstock; ink: ColorBox's Burnt Sienna; tools: Cuttlebug w Hearts embossing folder

Just catching up on some of my fav blogs and spotted this link to the Superbowl commercials at Jan Scholl's place, Paper Tango (hi Jan!). My DH watches the game; I generally just look up during commercials. If you're more like me than him, check them out here.

another online "quiz"

I'm a sucker for online quizzes - just took this one to see what they said my name means ...

What Susan Laurie Means

You are the total package - suave, sexy, smart, and strong.
You have the whole world under your spell, and you can influence almost everyone you know.
You don't always resist your urges to crush the weak. Just remember, they don't have as much going for them as you do.

You are a very lucky person. Things just always seem to go your way.
And because you're so lucky, you don't really have a lot of worries. You just hope for the best in life.
You're sometimes a little guilty of being greedy. Spread your luck around a little to people who need it.

You are usually the best at everything ... you strive for perfection.
You are confident, authoritative, and aggressive.
You have the classic "Type A" personality.

You are very intuitive and wise. You understand the world better than most people.
You also have a very active imagination. You often get carried away with your thoughts.
You are prone to a little paranoia and jealousy. You sometimes go overboard in interpreting signals.

You are relaxed, chill, and very likely to go with the flow.
You are light hearted and accepting. You don't get worked up easily.
Well adjusted and incredibly happy, many people wonder what your secret to life is.

You are wild, crazy, and a huge rebel. You're always up to something.
You have a ton of energy, and most people can't handle you. You're very intense.
You definitely are a handful, and you're likely to get in trouble. But your kind of trouble is a lot of fun.

You tend to be pretty tightly wound. It's easy to get you excited... which can be a good or bad thing.
You have a lot of enthusiasm, but it fades rather quickly. You don't stick with any one thing for very long.
You have the drive to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. Your biggest problem is making sure you finish the projects you start.

You are friendly, charming, and warm. You get along with almost everyone.
You work hard not to rock the boat. Your easy going attitude brings people together.
At times, you can be a little flaky and irresponsible. But for the important things, you pull it together.

SU card club projects

The lovely and talented Crystal Spencer (see blog links) led the rowdy but loveable gang of card club gals I hang with the faux silk and acetate (or izzat acrylic?!) techniques the other night. These are the two cards we made. pretty kewl, eh?!

I have no recipes, save for the tissue wrap and transparency film ... except that they were all SU product, and the kewl scallop on the front of the one card is out of the Sale-A-Bration catty (soon to be living at my house!).

Hey, did you take the "What kind of accent do you have?" quiz yet? See earlier post!

my acrylic valentine

I visited my LSS today for a QuicKutz Club meeting (more show-'n-tell on that later) and picked up some My Mind's Eye "Sisters" products to pull together a Valentine's Day card for ... you guessed it! ... my sister! Hope she likes it!

We're planning on acetate and faux silk techniques at our upcoming SU Card Club meeting, which is at my house on Monday evening. I SHOULD be party planning and house cleaning but instead I was shopping and then made this card before starting supper (a yummy shrimp 'n broccoli alfredo dish!).

tip: these oversized square cards cost extra postage when mailed in square envelopes, but did you know you can mail them in slightly oversized rectangular envelopes, usually with out paying any addt'l postage?!

stamps: Studio G's Happy Valentine's Day sentiment; paper: My Mind's Eye's Party "Sisters" Paisley; ink: StazOn Jet Black; accessories: My Mind's Eye's confetti grosgrain ribbon, couple cardstock pieces and one acryllic piece

happy birthday, susan!

This card's for my boss whose b'day is this coming Monday, based on an ATC I'd rec'd from my SU demo that Janet Hindman had made. I'd love to have been able to link to her blog but haven't been able to find one yet - if anybody knows of one, let me know!

I changed the ATC layout to accomodate Taylor's recent Cupcake Challenge (LOVE that gal's stuff!), mounted it on a stamped background of a combination of flowers, and added a b'day sentiment and flowers inside - voila! I'm cutting this one close as I've only got a day to buck this around work to have folkes sign as Susan's out 'til Tuesday!

stamps: SU Background Sampler, Be Happy, Short & Sweet, Vases in Vogue; paper: Almost Artichoke, Kraft, Ruby Red cardstock; ink: Almost Artichoke, Ruby Red, Versamark; accessories: Mellow Moss ribbon, threaded thru the flower to create its center
