one day without shoes
Wanting to help get shoes on the feet of children in need, American Blake Mycoskie created TOMS Shoes. TOMS' business model is unique: For every pair of shoes purchased, TOMS donates a pair of new shoes to a child in need.
Today is TOMS' annual, international event, "One Day Without Shoes." According to its website, TOMS has asked people to pledge to go barefoot today to raise awareness for "those people who don't have a choice."

don't they go by in a blink?
It's hard to imagine it's been thirty years to the date since John Lennon was murdered ... and slightly more than 40 years since my cousin Robin (wearing my fav color, purple, in the picture taken this past fall) was born. Robin passed away this past Monday after having battled cancer. Her Facebook quote was "Life ain't always beautiful. BUT IT'S A BEAUTIFUL RIDE! :O)" and she definitely made it more beautiful. You know the quote, "Some day you will read in the papers that I have died. Don't you believe a word of it! At that moment I shall be more alive than I have ever been." I'm reminded of that, and of a scene in Meet Joe Black where Anthony Hopkins delivers a speech at his 65th birthday party that goes something like this:
"I thought I was going to sneak away tonight. What a glorious night. Every face I see is a memory. It may not be a perfectly perfect memory. Sometimes we had our ups and downs. But we're all together, and you're mine for a night. And I'm going to break precedent and tell you my one candle wish: that you would have a life as lucky as mine, where you can wake up one morning and say, "I don't want anything more." Sixty-five years. Don't they go by in a blink?"
Enjoy the song, folkes:

top 5 things about fall
Kerri Bradford of serendipity blog fame recently posted about her top five things about fall. I was up north with my local sibs, Mom, and niece over the autumn solstice, but thought it'd be a nice idea to share. I love the change of seasons ... tho' I'd appreciate shorter winters, LOL (wink!), I figure winters make me more appreciate spring, summer and fall!
My top 5 things about fall: 1) attending craft shows, 2) walking in fallen leaves, 3) pulling out my fav sweaters and sweatshirts, and 4) relaxing with a mug of hot spiced cider, while enjoying 5) a fire in the fireplace. ... so, what are YOU thankful for?

It doesn't matter what kind of mood I'm in; when I see this YouTube, it makes me smile, and I felt the need to smile this evening. Enjoy! Life is good!

good morning!
I'm LOVIN' the michigan.org travel commercials lately and this one's a beauty. Enjoy your morning - spring's arrived in Michigan - whoo hoo (my DH is planning on running the remainder of the gas out of our snowblower today, so I HOPE it's here to stay, LOL - we won't remind him he'd been planning on doing that on April 5th, okay (see this post)?)!
