fav stamp camp card - a happy Mother's Day card

I went to stamp camp led by the lovely and talented Angie Jarman last night, and here's my fav card. We generally make 5 cards and this month they were primarily feminine cards with Mother's Day as the inspiration. Both my and my DH's Moms have passed away, but I made a couple cards - 1 for my fav sis' and one for my niece Jenn. I always figured the holiday doesn't mean you're limited to only making cards for your Mom. Heck, they're both Moms!

This beauty of a card was inspired by the sample in the catty using the Floral Romance DP. Angie switched colors and added the butterfly. I picked a couple of the fresh fig frosted flower as purple's both my and my sister's fav color.

I ended up ordering some of the cardstock and designer paper used for this card today. She drew the inspiration for this card from the catty, and I love the layered look.

stamps: SU's; paper: SU's mossy meadow, old olive, petal pink, and sahara sand card stocks and Floral Romance DP; ink: sahara sand; tools: SU's leaf and butterfly punches; embellishments: fresh fig ribbon and frosted flowers

happy Mother's Day!

We visited w  my Mom on Saturday the 9th and brought her some fresh-cut lilac cuttings from our back yard, supposedly to match the card I'd made for her. She used to have a large lilac bush in the back yard but it is no more. We have a large lilac bush that was started from a cutting from my Mom's, so it's only appropriate that I bring her some from it, right?!

Seems like my sibs had the same idea; Jack sent her some potted tulips, and Mark brought her an orchid. It remains to be seen whether Karen stopped or stops by later this week (she usually visits mid-week) with her own flower! Great minds think alike, don't you know?!

I've misplaced the tag showing the name of this stamp set; if anybody knows, please let me know! I used a spritzer to make resemble a watercolor effect!

NOT the same color as I'd originally envisioned ... but they're in her room on her bureau so she can see them during the day. Maybe my flowers are actually razzleberry? Thanx for stopping by.

Love you, Mom!

you are loved, M&D!

Here's to the initial inking of my latest Avery Elle stamp set - Fanfare! It's a combo card in more ways than one. Firstly, I used Studio Calico's Sunday Sketch AND drew inspiration from Avery Elle's April AEI{heart}U challenge (I think the repeating fanfare swoops mimics the inspiration photo's floating Japanese lanterns, don't you?)! Secondly, tomorrow's my folkes' wedding anniversary and I'm thinking of them, AND Mother's Day is fast approaching, when I'll give this to my Mom (you see, my Dad passed away 8+ years ago and my Mom's got Alzheimer's BUT she still reads every card I give her, God bless her)!

The AE Fanfare stamp is a single line of swoops so I repeatedly stamped them using VersaMark on some SU Sahara Sand, then tied on some white cotton string, glued on the dies, and popped up the punches on some Neenah Solar White card stock. Easy peasy!

stamps: Avery Elle's Fanfare; ink: Ranger's black soot distress ink, Tsukineko's VersaMark; paper: American Crafts' Textured White, Neenah's Solar White, SU's Real Red and Sahara Sand card stock, unknown green DP; tools: EK Success Spiral, Marvy Uchida heart,SU's bird builder punches, Cuttlebug w Simon Says Stamp's you, and Sizzix Branch w Leaves dies; accessories: white packaging string

Happy Mother's Day!

Do you ever purchase an entire stamp or sticker set to get your hands on one piece?! Yeah, I'm lovin' this little bird from the Little Yellow Bicycle folkes and MUST see if it's available as a stamp. This is from a set of fabric-covered chipboard pieces and is stinkin' cute IRL. It's from new product purchased during our Mega Meet trek this past Thursday, as is the banner stamp and the alpha stickers AND the Spellbinders' die.

The absolute best deals this year were available from Scrapmart, where I purchased the die, available either singly at $10 ea, or your pick of 3 sets for $20. I got the Labels Four Small set of 6 dies for $6.75 when sharing the deal w my stamping buddies. Another great deal there - I picked up a combo package containing a Lifestyle medium sized polka dots, a Sizzix mail set of four embossing folders, and a Spellbinders m-bossabilities reversible embossing folder for ... insert drumroll here ... $12! SUCH DEALS! But I digress ...

This is my Mom's Mother's Day card. We're heading to a family get-together to celebrate today, and I'm hopeful the weather cooperates! I'm hand-delivering cards to my Mom, Sister, and Niece as I'm Baaad w a capital 'b' for being such a slacker and not having cards ready 'til the last minute this year.

stamps: jillibean soup's birthday party; paper: SU asst'd colors for banner to match chipboard piece, A1 Neenah Natural White card stocks; ink: Ranger's black soot distress ink; accessories: Little Yellow Bicycle's Paradise fabric favorites, lilybeedesign's ABC stickers; tools: Cuttlebug w Spellbinders Labels Four Small dies

I keep picking up finds when I spot them, and this past Christmas got one for my sis, who's admired mine. anywho, this isn't really about quilts but about the fav Mom's in my life ... be they my own, my sis, my niece, my sis-in-law, or my great friends! I'm blessed, quite literally, by being surrounded in love by some wonderful ladies and wanted to give 'em all a great big SHOUT OUT today!

happy Mother's Day, all!

Mothers Day

A Mother loves right from the start.
She holds her baby close to her heart.
The bond that grows will never falter.
Her love is so strong it will never alter.

A Mother gives never ending Love.
She never feels that she has given enough.
For you she will always do her best.
Constantly working, there's no time to rest.

A Mother is there when things go wrong.
A hug and a kiss to help us along.
Always there when we need her near.
Gently wipes our eyes when we shed a tear.

So on this day shower your Mother with Love.
Gifts and presents are nice but that is not enough.
Give your Mother a day to have some peace of mind.
Be gentle, be good, be helpful, be kind.

Happy Mothers Day

- Carol Matthews

my sister, my friend

I'm a pretty lucky sibling, I've decided. My siblings and I all pretty much get along. Sure, we have our days, but when it comes down to it, they're all there for you. My sister and I were best buds growing up and hung around with the same group of friends 'til midway thru high school. We're still close, but I work weekdays and she works weekends and we live an hour apart so we don't get together nearly as much as I'd like. Sometimes day to day life just gets in the way, y'know?!

This card and altered notebook are from last night's class (thanx, Mary - loved 'em all!) - all SU supplies except the little notebook which we altered. One trait my sister and I share still is that we're both list-makers; we have been, forever! I recall in the days before the Internet us hanging on to every word between music countdowns, feverishly creating our lists of the year's top 100 songs. Sheesh! Why that was so important, I'll never recall! Karen, did we maintain separate lists or work on the same one, do you recall? LOL - thanx for stopping by for my trip down Memory Lane, folkes!

a TECC64 Mother's Day

I made this card to match a mini album I made at a class held at my fav LSS - Capture-a-Memory (link at right) - see the mini album's post here - so now all that's left to do is picking the photos to put in the album! This one's based on Taylor's TECC64 sketch (pictured below).

I'd originally picked up the DP to make this card for Lindsey, the daughter of my stampin' bud Pat. She's collected frogs over the years and was heading into town to help her Mom out while recovering from surgery, being the sweet kid that she is. I hadn't realized how similar the cards were 'til right now when hunting down the link to her card, LOL!

stamps: n/a; paper: Creative Imaginations Debbie Mumm DP, ColorMates' Dark Autumn Red, Dark Outdoor Olive, and Deep Outdoorsy Olive and SU's Whisper White cardstocks; ink: PC-generated (as was inside sentiment: "A mother holds her children's hands for just a short time, but holds their hearts forever" - unknown author; accessories: Basic Grey buttons (to match bittersweet DP)

mom 'n me class

I went to a scrappy class at my LSS tonite where the lovely and talented Maria led us in making this uber cute mini photo album. I'd picked up these same papers last month and used 'em in a card (here) for my buddy Pat's daughter, and I have enuff left over for another card so this may be a matching card and Mother's Day present ... and it's SO STINKIN' CUTE that practically everybody in the class wanted to make another! It's from some new dies the gals at CAM have in stock and everything was cut for us, so it was a breeze to put together! Thanx, Maria - I'm LOVIN' it!

We used 4 different shaped dies and covered them in 2-sided Debbie Mumm DP which had matching stickers. We placed the stickers on cardstock for extra strenght, cut them out, and inserted them thruout the album, mostly popped up using dimensionals. There are pockets and matchy tags thruout ... it's just darlin'!

My camera has died ... and so the picture's a scan, which is what I'll have to resort to using 'til we break down and go shopping for another camera. First we have to research the heck outta what's available on the market. And, I'm hooked on the folkes at Consumer Reports ... research ... research ... research! We don't make any major purchases quickly - just ask me how long we've been talking about replacing our car! sigh ...

another make-'n-take

Here's another make-'n-take from my fav local stampin store, CAM (see link at right). I ended up inviting my eldest son Geoff to come with me to this one, after work one day last month, and hadn't uploaded it. He joined me and made his own version of the card, which he gave to his Grandma for Mother's Day this past weekend. I think she was impressed!

I don't recall what supplies were used ... but we enjoyed having a Mother/Son crafty moment!

Afterwards Geoff and I supported the local economy and picked up additional supplies for future craft projects.

Happy Mother's Day, KAZ!

This card was inspired by one published in the Spring 2008 edition of paper creations designed by Lindsey Botkin. I used SU Purely Pomegranate and a dollar stamp I'd picked up from Mike's recently, and printed the sentiment from my PC on white cardstock I had on hand.

Kept it simple, as it's also inspired by Sharon Johnson's ssnotime33 challenge. We were to keep it simple and use pink, green, and a flower. Hope my sister likes it as it's off in the mail tomorrow to make it to her by Mother's Day!
stamps: Kolette Hall designed for studio g; paper: SU Purely Pomegranate, unknown white cardstock; ink: SU Purely Pomegranate, StazOn Jet Black, Tri-C watercolor marker
