happy Father's Day, PB!

This Sunday we celebrated Father's Day with a cookout per my DH's wishes, and bestowed upon him a few gifts. I'd located MAN CRATES online recently and ordered him the grill master set. They stuff crates with snacks, gadgets, and gear, then seal them up tight and ship them with a crowbar.  In the Grill Master crate, this included a cast-iron smoker box, four steak thermometers, a brass-knuckle meat tenderizer, and a set of BBQ sauces and spice blend rub. PB seemed impressed with the contents, and my youngest seemed impressed w the packaging. We'd also picked up the first two seasons of the recently ended HBO series, The Newsroom. LOVE that show!

Anywho, here's the card I gave PB, based on one by the lovely and talented Sandra of Made by Sandra blog roll fame and using the supplies provided in the Simon Says Stamp June 2015 card kit. The kits have been uber cool so far and I'm lovin' the bright summery colors in this month's kit!

Also here's the cards that my youngest son gave PB and earlier, me for Mother's Day. I HAD to capture them for posterity.

happy Father's Day, PB!

I'm playing catch-up and wanted to share the Father's Day card I gave my DH this month. It was a CAM make-'n-take led by the lovely and talented Karen at CAM yesterday, and I don't think I'd ever made a card using this type of format before. We cut a card stock "tube" of sorts, then glued the interior kraft card stock base to the smaller portion, and decorated the base of the card stock tube. In the picture at left you can see that the right-most area of the card - perhaps an inch - works as a slider card. The interior portion is simply inserted into the card stock tube. We used some distress stain on the mini envelope that's mounted on the top of the card, and when I got home I found that I had the perfect size "HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!" sentiment in my stash. The inside sentiment was PC-generated (using Architext and Lucida Handwriting fonts) and the "you're a classic" sentiment just seemed perfect to go with the classic card on the base! I printed it on vellum card stock and attached that to the kraft base. Easy peasy to make but it looks so much more difficult, don't you think?!

Almost all materials were provided by CAM so no deets today.

happy fathers day!

Here's the Father's Day card I made for my DH - a CAS design based on Paper Craft Planet's SK061910 sketch challenge. I simply stamped the background shoe in Kiwi Kiss and the sentiment in black, then added the "e" to make it golf-related. Here's wishing you all a happy Fathers Day!

everyone should have one

what, you ask? why, a card editor! I wasn't happy with the card I made to be from me to my DH for Father's Day the other day and brought it into work for show-'n-tell w my scrappin' buddies. Kimmie suggested adding a touch of red - and here it is - based on Stamp Something's Sketch Something 0612 challenge. The red touches are Ruby Red base and matted main stamped image, and a red paper pieced coffee mug. Oh, and the red bling. I FINALLY used some DP I'd picked up last year with a coffee theme. I'd picked up the matching bling, ribbon and stickers too ... gotta use more of that stash soon. I used some lyrics from a Nat King Cole song - You're The Cream In My Coffee - for the inside sentiment. I'm listening to Nat right now on Jango - isn't modern technology wonderful?!

stamps: gel-à-tins' coffee break, CHF's Canvas backgrounder; paper: CI's Bohemia bungalow and coffee collections, SU's Ruby Red and The Paper Co's Kraft cardstocks; ink: StazOn Timber Brown; accessories: CI's Bohemia bling and ribbon

a par-fect father's day

The par-fect card for my DH - I made this one for the boys to give their Dad this weekend. It's inspired by this beauty of a card by Julia Stainton - she does t'riffic stuff - and I just used some golf stamps I'd picked up last year. Hmmnn ... is there a sketch out there? Sure 'nuff - Card Sketch A Day #288!

Back to work - I've gotta do MY card still!

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day, everyone! I'd posted my card to my DH already but here's one I made for my boys to give their Dad. It's inspired by a card that Taylor VanBruggen posted here but also works for Split Coast Stampers' limited supplies challenge #173. My LSS (wink to Kim!) recently had one similar in their shop and I HAD to pick up the DP!

I cheated a bit on the BBQ tools - I have a stamp set that includes some, but they were too small in scale. I thought perhaps I'd stamp them and then scan 'em to enlarge them, and then realized I could save myself the aggravation and do a search on google pics. Love those google folkes, I tell ya!

So, this one's for you, PB! My DH doesn't normally read my posts so methinks my secret's safe 'til this afternoon. If the weather cooperates, we're planning on a small BBQ, so both cards are themed this year. I'd picked up a cooler on wheels for him a month ago and have been stashing presents to put into it for today. Small stuff, mainly - w one larger one. Hope he likes 'em all!

stamps: Inque Boutique's Father's Day; paper: Creative Imaginations' Old Guys Rule DP, Prism unknown dark blue cardstock; ink: CTMH's Outdoor Denim; accessories: SU's hodgepodge brads, CTMH's Outdoor Denim grosgrain ribbon

p.s. Anybody besides me wish Prism added a 1/2" to their cardstock to list the color? I always forget what it is that I've picked up!

an early Father's Day

My buddies will tell you that I'm usually quite adept at procrastination, but a few challenging blogs inspired me to make PB's Father's Day card early! I'd picked up some pretty blue, cream and greens paisley DP and coordinating ribbon at my fav LSS the other day and thought I'd use it for one of Beate's challenges ... yet ended up pulling it together with vintage violet for a color challenge (I LOVE purples and greens together - it's my absolute favorite color combination and just last week I switched my bathrooms' towels to them). So, the layout's from Jen's SFYTT challenge, the color's from Papertake's color challenge, and the subject's HOT, which is Caardvark's recent subject challenge.

The sentiments both inside and out are PC-generated, using a kewl font I'd picked up from someone's blog called CK_Alis_Writing. I love it and will update this entry if I find it or someone lets me know where it came from. I watercolored the BBQer dude using my Kuretake water blender w SU inks and as usual, pre-poked (izzat a word?) the eyelet holes with the Provo Craft piercing tool my buddy Claudia gave me (thanx, Claud - I can't tell you how often I pick this little baby up!). My sweetie's a BBQer extraordinaire, so this stamp's perfect! All this stamping food's gotten me hungry!

stamps: A Muse Artstamps' BBQer, BBQ tools (inside), Provo Craft's Summertime (ass'td stamps on green cardstock); paper: A1's Natural White cardstock, BasicGrey's Boxer DP, SU's Bashful Blue, Old Olive, and Vintage Violet cardstocks; ink: StazOn's Jet Black, SU's Always Artichoke and Vintage Violet, Versamark, Tri-C watercolor markers; accessories: eyelets from one of Hedgehog Ink's eyelet shares; tools: Kuretake water blender, and don't you just love that Crop-A-Dile?!
