Crystal's Christmas class

I went to Crystal's Christmas card class yesterday, and here's my favorite of the cards we made.

The landscape version is the one offered in the class; the other is just a different "take" on the card that I made. Usually my buddy Pat and I like to make one of each, altering one or the other and compare our results afterwards.

product - all SU - stamps: Big on Christmas, Christmas Chatter (jumbo roller); ink: soft sky, purely pomegranate, pumpkin pie, basic black, mellow moss; paper: soft sky, purely pomegranate, whisper white; accessories: dazzling diamonds stampin' glitter

another halloween card

I made my halloween cards early this year, along with some fall ones ... but generally I'm a procrastinator and am making cards the week I'm sending them out! Here's another, using snipped ghosts from some t'riffic "ribbon" I picked up from a LSS. I didn't get the name of the supplier, but they had strings of tiny puffy bats, ghosts, and one other item (hmmnn ... was it jack-o-lanterns?) joined together. I've used the bats on some other cards.

stamps: SU's home is where the haunt is (inside sentiment); ink: Brilliance's graphite black; paper: no-name bright orange, black I had on hand

gotta love this orange!

This is my husband PB's favorite of this year's Halloween cards. He leans towards minimalist cards and in fact told me "less is more" when I asked him what sort of pic I should use on this one.

stamps: SU's home is where the haunt is, spooky skyline; ink: ColorBox's peach pastel, Brilliance's graphite black, Versamark; paper: Colormate's desert dune, black I had on hand; accessories: Making Memories' halloween mini rub-ons; tools: SU's jumbo roller

ready for halloween

Halloween's one of my favorite holidays! I like to make up treat pkgs for the kids to bring to school, and always liked participating in their holiday programs when they were little. Now that they've grown, I generally just decorate my mantle and front door for the holidays.

I've liked this SU halloween stamp set - home is where the haunt is - since I first laid eyes on it, and figured I'd better pick up a set before it was discontinued! I used ColorMate's desert dune card stock and stamped SU's spooky skyline in Versamark, then added the matted picture smudged with ColorBox's burnt sienna ink, my latest color. The moon's stamped in ColorBox's peach pastel and the rest is stamped in Brilliance's graphite black.

Leaning toward being frugal, I've not yet sprung for a photo corner punch. Instead, I just cut a square, then slice it in half diagonally, and clip out the centers to match. I'd lucked out on a t'riffic deal on eyelets from Heidi of Hedgehog Ink (if you order, tell her SueB sent ya!), and one of the colors was a dead-on match, as you can see from the pic!

Anywho, this was my eldest son's favorite of this year's halloween cards to date!

autumn's in the air

My buddy Donna shares my liking for all things Goofy! Here's her card - see below post for stats.

I usually scan in my cards at work. It's funny - strange - that I scanned this in today, as I heard on CARS108, a local radio station, that Donna had to call in within 30 minutes to claim a free lunch at a local restaurant ... so I had to grab my cell phone to call her!

Now this card'll have to change to a combo "welcome fall" and "congrats" card!

autumn is here!

My sister's favorite season is autumn, whereas I pretty much figure God placed me here to more appreciate spring, summer and fall! I found a nice 6x6 pad of 7Gypsies papers that all screamed autumn to me, so I picked them up to make some cards ... one for my sis' and one for my buddy Donna. This one's for my sis'!

No stamps were used on these two cards - I inked the edges of the paper (7Gypsie's Zanzibar collection) and cardstock (SU's mellow moss and one of Bazzill's that coordinated w Stella Ruby) with some ColorBox (aka cat's eye) burnt sienna and Brilliance's graphite black inks, used a couple of Jolee's 3-d stickers, and Making Memories' rub-on sentiments, and added some black eyelets to complete these.

Hope they like 'em!

happy 1st day of Autumn

You are Claypot

You are down to earth, and well connected to all your senses. For you, life is about the simple pleasures - like going to a great concert or enjoying a bottle of wine. Your warmth and zest for life tends to make everyone feel connected with you.

welcome baby

I made this card for my boss Susan the other day. It was my first time using SU's Baby's Firsts stamp set, which I picked up thinking I'd get to my kids' baby albums. When I started stamping, I just picked up from the present time forward ... and eventually I've gotta go back in time!

I used SU's Warm Words sentiments stamp set and Basic Grey's Lilly Kate patterned paper, blue card stock and vellum that I had on hand, and a cute baby cut-out that I'd picked up at a LSS-sponsored garage sale this past weekend. I recognized but don't recall who makes these cut-out kids on card stock ...

my silly little valentine

My favorite of the Valentine's Day cards I sent last year was this "dark" one I sent to my brother Jack and his lady Mary. I used SU's Loads of Love stamp set which I'd picked up for Christmas cards, inked with ColorBox's Cranberry ink, and cardstock I had on hand.

I'd picked out the ribbon from one of those MakingMemories' 9-pks - this one's called Cajun - where they package a variety of 1yd lengths of coordinating ribbons in one pkg. It's all about the ribbon, right?!

I LOVE this stuff!

I dunno whether it's due to my childhood memory or what, but I love herringbone plaid! I recall that my Mom knit my Dad a couple vests with a herringbone stripe across them and socks to match. She also used to knit my Barbie doll dresses, God love her! I've been SO BLESSED with t'riffic parents, so I made this one for my Mom ... just because!

The sentiment is from PAPERTREYink's Paper Tray stamp set, the paper and cardstock was from stash on hand, and I used herringbone stamps from Technique Tuesday's Olde World Squares stamp set and stamped a herringbone border on the bottom of the inside using CTMH's Outdoor denim and SU's certainly celery inks to coordinate with the paper used on the card front.

jessy's b'day

My niece Jessy is so much like me when I was her age that my Mom mixes up our names at times!

For Jessy's last b'day I sent her this card in one of my favorite color combos - red, white, and black, stamped with SU's Polka Dots & Paisley stamp set. I had the ribbon on hand from Jo-Ann's and the cardstock on hand from my favorite LSS, Capture-A-Memory.
