American puppeteer Jim Henson, creator of the Muppets - including Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Big Bird, Cookie Monster, and my eldest son's favorite, Elmo - was born this day in 1936. We'll have to celebrate and watch one of our many Sesame Street DVDs tonight! Or Muppet Treasure Island - now there's another pirate I hadn't included in my poll - Tim Curry! How could there have been no write-ins for him? Sigh ...edited to add: oops, sorry 'bout that - just rechecked comments and there WAS a write-in for Tim!
